Old Dominion University Fashion Academy

A Summer Fashion Experience for High School Students

 

The Academy will return in July 2009.

 

Overview

During the period of July 21st- 25th, the Old Dominion University Fashion Program is hosting a one-week day program that provides high school students interested in fashion hands-on college-level experience in fashion merchandising.

Students will complete exciting activities in sales promotion, market planning, computer-based design and production, fashion research, and fashion career planning.

Students will work together on team projects to apply what they learn in short lectures. Activities are not limited to the projects. Outside the walls of ODU, students will participate in a fashion-focused field trip for a behind the scenes look at MacArthur Mall.

Objectives:

  • Get hands-on experience doing college-level fashion activities
  • Work collaboratively with a team to complete a fashion research project
  • Active hands-on learning
  • Learn about careers in fashion buying, management, and design.
  • Meet students with common interests

Dates for Summer 2008:   July 21-25

Cost: $350 Per Person (Includes instruction, supplies, transportation on field trips. Does not include meals.)

The Fashion Academy is sponsored and supervised by the Fashion Merchandising Program in the Department of Occupational and Technical Studies, Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia.
